2012 Alligator Hunt

Has anyone here ever hunted Rodman? We have tags for week one there and I'm looking for tips from anyone with experience from the area.

Will check with a few people. The only thing I remember people saying is that it is full of stumps. I think that it was also one of the lakes that game and fish was thinkin of shutting down due to low water levels. Low water can help some times when the gators can not get up in the brush where it is tought to get them. May want to have plenty of hooks if you plan on snaging them in the stump fields.

Important Notice: Long-term drought conditions have adversely affected access to some alligator harvest units. The quota for these areas may be reduced or eliminated if water levels do not increase, and these units may be unavailable to select at application time. Orange Lake will likely be closed due to low water conditions (see the image below). Other areas affected include but are not limited to: Rodman Reservoir, Lochloosa Lake, Newnans Lake, Lake Iamonia, and Lake Miccosukee. Licenses and tags are non-refundable even if access to an alligator harvest unit is difficult or limited.

Hopefully you'll have some access.

The water level shouldn't be an issue since the drawdown is over.I know some people that fished it a few weeks ago said they had no problems, plus the recent rains. I just wanted tips from someone with past experience hunting the area. Thanks though.
