Snatch Hook question

Postby glennonja » Thu Jul 14, 2011 11:05 am

New hunter here...
I have a question about snatch hooks on your rod/reels. I have read on here it is best to tie a 12/0 hook directly to your braid rather than using a steel leader? What kind of weight do you use, egg weight? Or do the hooks provide enough weight on their own?

We use a weighted 12/0 as on our products page it weighs 2.5 oz. with the lead molded on to it. No additional weight is needed. With 60-80lb. test braid like spider wire on heavy spinning reel and rod will give good casting range. We also have 10/0 with lead that weight about 1.5oz. for lighter rigs. Then there is the 14/0 with lead weighs about 7.5oz., which we put on a rope to haul the big'uns up off the bottom.
