2011 Draw - How did you do?

Postby admin » Thu May 26, 2011 11:16 pm

I put in five options and got my third choice which is one of the lakes I wanted during the second hunt. I feel pretty lucky because several of my friends got there last choice or no hunt at all, they will be jumping in on the second phase draw. How did y'all do?

I got Crescent Lake, pretty excited!! Had a couple buddies get 2 ten footers there last year.

Any recommendations for this lake?

I was monitoring the Florida drawing today and was watching many of the permits that I was hoping would be available in the 3rd phase disappear. In the first hour of the free for all, 1259 permits were purchased. Each year we look to purchase extra tags so that we can take out people and let them experience the thrill of harpooning a gator. I was lucky to pick up 5 permits for fellow hunters that were not going to be by a computer today. Fortunately everyone got their location of choice before thier location sold out.

My understanding is there will be no air boats this year .
I hunted it for the first time last year AND onley for one night , seen a ton of dinks 18'' to 3', also seen lot of 5 to 7 1/2 footers with 2 well over 9''
I hunted off a air boat and hunted the thick stuff and back ponds witch are only acceseable by air boat .
the largests gator's I seen where out in the open water of the main lake .

it was my first time hunting gator and i hunted with my bow and I missed 2 times and stuck 2 and was off the lake in about 6 hours with my 2 gator's
I by no means know that lake but, I seen, and also had a good time and will be out on it later again this season.

Lilly pads where only realy bad on the edges the night i hunted orange lake but i was told they can be really bad. . the time i hunted it was still very huntable .

good luck and be safe
George

sorry for the bad spelling
