I personally use the toggle darts most of the time. They are solid and one piece. We have beveled out the holes where the cable goes through to prevent the shearing effect when going through the tough scutes. The Muzzy darts are very sharp and are smaller in diameter so they can go in with a litter less effort. Some people that use them will also trim down the barbs so that they will not have to go in as deep before the barb part is under the hide. I have personally seen them break in half where the cable goes through the dart. I have also seen where the side of the dart where the push pin goes in break out when a gator rolled quickly as he was harpooned. The later failure did not result in a loss of the gator but the tip was not usable any more. I have been using the same few toggle dart for many years with just a little touch up filing on the tip to keep it sharp. What ever tip you use you must get it below the hide/bone in order for it to do its job.
