New hunter - product question

Postby glennonja » Tue Jul 12, 2011 12:05 pm

Found out yesterday I won the lottery for a tag in west central alabama. trying to research as much as i can now. I am looking at buying the two harpoon kit with hooks on this website. I was wondering how long it takes to ship the product?

Also, what kind of saltwater fishing rigs do most of you use? Heavy spinning reels? What pound line?

Congratulations on your draw. We ship US Postal service priority mail that will get anywhere in the use in 2 – 3 days. We generally get it in the mail the day of the order or the next day. If more express shipping is needed, arrangements can be made.

As for the rod there is a toss up between big and stiff and lighter and flexible. I prefer less than a pole queue for a rod. I can cast it better and hook more gators. I use 65# and up power braid or spider wire type lines. When I get an 11+ foot gator on I can not always pull him up with that rod. In that case we would either hook him with another rod or use a 14/0 hook on a rope to pull him up to harpoon him. There are many roads that will take you to the same destination.

We also find it easier to cast where you want to when you can reel the hook up close to the rod tip with less of a chance for a swinging hook to find your hunting partners.
